Collection and Observation

I collected 18 different sieves with various uses and forms. While drawing and observing the collected sieves, I analyzed their components, uses, and materials.

2D to 3D

During the process of making various Sieve shapes with paper, I discovered that various shapes of 3 dimensions can be made using 2-dimensional paper. I experimented with what kind of shape would come out by folding and connecting which part of the paper.

Thermoplastic Polyurethane

TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) was chosen as the material for the sieve because it needed a material that was flexible like paper and could withstand high temperatures. I experimented to find a thickness for the TPU plate that was sufficiently flexible, easy to fold, and stable at the same time. 

Connection Method

As a result of thinking about how to fix the folded part when the TPU plate is folded, I decided to use a small pin that passes through the hole in the sieve.

Fold Filt

The Fold Filt is a camping sieve and it is easy to carry, because it is light and flat with a weight of about 10g. In addition, it can be folded to make three different forms of sieve.
